The “Isotta Discovery Car” is a nine piece plastic car that shows the inner workings of the pistons, gears and even the differential. But first a little history, back in the early 1900s, Cesare Isotta and Vincenzo Fraschini (both Italians), began producing a super luxury automobile designed primarily for the extremely wealthy buyer. In fact, it is said that no two were alike. Although the Isotta never became a success, Quercetti has used that great automobile name to present this plastic car for kids.
To begin with, the “Isotta Discovery Car” is intended for children as young as 3 years old, but there is certainly broad appeal for kids 6 years old and up. The nine pieces of the car must first be assembled, and include a frame, steering wheel, three cylinder engine, gearbox, differential and four wheels. The parts snap in place with ease, and once assembled the car reveals a clear transparent view of the key components of the vehicle. Every piece is brightly colored and disassembly is just as easy as putting it all together.
The “Isotta Discovery Car” measures approximately 11″ long and 8″ wide, and the pieces are large in size for the littlest of hands. The Quercetti quality shows through as soon as you pick up the first piece. Kids and parents will really love this fully featured creation, which seems to be nearly unbreakable. In short, this is a mighty fine toy that will likely become a favorite in many households for many years to come.
The “Isotta Discovery Car” retails for $49.95, and can be purchased directly from the International Playthings website.
