ToysBulletin.com Update – New Site and Content Migration

cropped-cropped-Toys1.gifThis site has been up and running for more than four years, and we have been asked by a few people why we have never updated the design. The short answer is that the site worked, and we’ve learned before that if something works online, don’t mess with it. But the time has finally come for a refresher, a new design and layout that provides a host of benefits for readers.

First of all this new site will load much faster. The previous site was code heavy and a bit of a patch work Frankenstein job that accumulated a lot of excess size over the years. This new site is optimized to run much faster.

Gubs – a New Card Game of Wit and Luck from Gamewright

We liked the demo we saw of this new card game from Gamewright.  Details to come after we get our hands on it, but this is one to keep an eye out for.

Editor Note Regarding Toys Bulletin Ratings

Toys Bulletin has decided to discontinue its gold, silver and bronze rating system. Because toys and games come in so many varieties and appeal to such different age groups, it has become increasingly difficult to categorize our favorites into one of those 3 categories.

Instead, we plan to simply release a list of favorite toys and games in the fall of each year to coincide with the Christmas shopping season, and a"Best of Show" list in the spring based on what
we see at the New York International Toy Fair.

Carrera – A New Digital Slot Racing Standard Showcasing at Toy Fair

This one will make you feel like you’re whipping around a real race track including lap times, pit lane, fuel management, and state of the art lane changing features.

The bar has been raised by these new digital innovations, and it will catch people who haven’t raced a slot car in a while a bit off guard.  Up to 6 cars can be raced at a time with a pace car function.  Amazing.  This is a great set and we look forward to watching where they take this.

New Green Lantern Shooting Game and More From Pressman

As Green Lantern hits the theaters, this new shooting game will be hitting toy stores.  And this isn’t your typical “shoot balls at the other guy” game.  The balls are fired and completely contained underneath the battlezone, knocking out people from below.  Cool design, and a fun one to play.

Also at the Pressman Toy Fair booth, we found this new game, Sense A Bility.  In this one you’ll compete against your friends with a variety of different and challenging games that relate to different senses.  There’s game with touch, balance, memory, and more.  We thought this might have the makings of a winner.

Automoblox Introduces Cool New Trailer Vehicles at Toy Fair 2011

Automoblox is another Toys Bulletin favorite and has been a non stop hit with everyone we’ve showed it to.  The solid wooden construction combined with the unique way the vehicles assemble and dessemble makes these a standout.

Today at Toy Fair we saw a couple new vehicles the highlight being a couple of vehicles that include a trailer that can house another car.  The new trailer vehicles also come in a standard size and mini version as you can see from the photos on the left.

These are awesome toys that are fun to put together and they are a blast once assembled.  Check them out.

Two Hot New Lines Introduced From Tolo – Dinosaurs and Garden Tools

Tolo is one of our favorite toy companies.  Every single product they make is as tough and durable as they come.  At Toy Fair this year they introduced a line of garden tools for kids that we think will be another winner.  The tools are remarkably strong and functional and we can’t wait to get our hands on them.  We think this is a cool and practical way to get kids out of the house and doing something fun outside.

Tolo didn’t stop there; they also introduced a new line of dinosaurs in a few different packaging options.  Dinosaurs are always a winner and now we get them from Tolo.

Here are some photos of the new stuff they were gracious enough to let us snap, and stay tuned for bigger reviews on these new items down the road.
