Tangle NightBall – More Than Just a Football

61ovOKJQniL._SL1500_ToysBulletin.com looks at a Light-Up Football from Tangle Creations.

$_12It may not be football season, but the staff at Toys Bulletin sure had fun tossing around the “Tangle NightBall.”  What makes this football special is that it actually lights up while spiraling through the air.  Once darkness sets in, this football comes to life.  It is powered by non-replaceable LED lights, but they seem to have an endless amount of energy, so changing them out is not a worry.

When the ball is thrown, the “Tangle NightBall” will light up and actually get brighter as it spirals through the air.  Once it is caught, the light goes out until the next toss is made.  The larger of the two sizes measures approximately 8″ in length and 15″ around the middle.  The smaller version is about 6″ in length and 11″ around.  Both balls we tested were green with blue accents, although there are other color combinations available.  The ball has a rubber-like feel, is squeezable to the touch and waterproof too.  And boy, do these things ever fly through the air.  It is amazing to see.  They, of course, work just fine in the daytime as well, as they are easy to throw and catch.

ToysBulletin.com Update – New Site and Content Migration

cropped-cropped-Toys1.gifThis site has been up and running for more than four years, and we have been asked by a few people why we have never updated the design. The short answer is that the site worked, and we’ve learned before that if something works online, don’t mess with it. But the time has finally come for a refresher, a new design and layout that provides a host of benefits for readers.

First of all this new site will load much faster. The previous site was code heavy and a bit of a patch work Frankenstein job that accumulated a lot of excess size over the years. This new site is optimized to run much faster.

Our List of The Best Zombie Products Available – Toys, Games, Books and a Few Surprises

ToysBulletin.com takes a look at some of the best Zombie products available.

There is little doubt that one of the most popular media frenzies of the past several years revolves around a single word, that being Zombies. Quite frankly, they are everywhere. The public’s initial infatuation with Zombies may have begun with the release of the classic horror film, “Night of the Living Dead” in 1968. But more recently, the popular TV shows “The Walking Dead” and to a lesser degree, the Sundance Channel release of “The Returned” have continued to fuel the Zombie fires. Add to this the latest theatrical releases, including Brad Pitt’s “World War Z,” the Zombie comedy “Warm Bodies,” and even an animation hit, “ParaNormal,” and you have some idea what kids and even adults are putting on their Christmas lists in 2013. They want something related to Zombies.

The staff at Toys Bulletin decided to put their heads together and create a list of some of the best and craziest Zombie items for 2013. We are not going to review these items, although we will admit to having purchased many of them as gifts for friends, family or ourselves. There are some creepy products out there, but we kept our list a bit more “family friendly.” Even so, many of our selections may not be appropriate for everyone. Consider the list a general guide to the world of Zombie merchandise.

The format will be simple. We will provide a simple list (in no particular order), a brief description of each item, an approximate price, an age recommendation and, of course, a mandatory photo. All of the items can be found by performing a simple search on the Internet, and in many cases, Amazon.com is one of the best sources. You will laugh at some of the products, and be startled with others. In any case, have a good time. Here we go…

The Best of 2013 from Toys Bulletin

ToysBulletin.com lists its favorite toys and games of the year.

Each year this task gets much more difficult for our staff here at Toys Bulletin.  As has been the case in past years, we continue to see so many quality and exciting new products during the year that it is especially difficult to single out just a few standouts.  Plus, we also know that we cannot possibly test and review every toy and game released by every manufacturer in the past 12 months, so there is no doubt that we may have missed some good ones.

Here are the guidelines we follow in making our selections.  “The Best of 2013” is based solely on the toys and games that we have reviewed on our website from November 2012 through October 2013.  We have purposely excluded some older items, which may have been reviewed during that period, because that toy or game has been around for a number of years.  However, in some circumstances, we have also included an item that was new to us at Toys Bulletin, even though it may have been available for purchase prior to November 2012.

And most importantly, we followed our mission statement of providing a list of the “Best Toys and Games You’ve Never Heard Of...”

Two new balls from Waboba – The Outdoor Toy Every Kid Should Own

We've been huge fans of Waboba balls since we first experienced them a couple years ago (here's that review).  It pains me to see kids playing at the neighborhood pool with tennis balls in the water.  They have no idea what they're missing out on.

At Toy Fair this past year we met with the fine folks from Waboba who showed us two of their new balls, one for land and one for water.  They had taken the fun from the first generation of balls and added even more.  We waited until the summer months to give them a shot, and were fortunate to try them in a variety of environments.  In each case, the balls provided loads of fun and the characteristics of the balls change in each environment.  Let's take a closer look...

Duck Hunter – An Infrared Blaster Does the Trick

“Interactive Toy Concepts Ltd.” (ITC), based in Toronto, Canada, and founded in 1988, has earned a well-known reputation as one of the leaders in the highly competitive radio control (RC) category. They offer a full line of high performance toys, and the one we are reviewing today was honestly one of our very favorite toys at the February 2013 New York Toy Fair.

Duck Hunter-Launch & Load” allows youngsters ages 10 years old and up, and maybe some adults too, to safely hunt a duck in complete safety.

ITC provides an infrared Blaster, which also features a duck launching mechanism.  The Blaster is made of plastic, safety orange in color, and measures 24” in length.  The flying duck, with a wingspan of approximately 10”, actually flies by flapping his wings.  The duck is also extremely light, allowing it to fly quickly and for a greater distance.  The only battery requirement is for the Blaster, which uses 3 AAA batteries to charge the duck and power the infrared beam.  The “Duck Hunter-Launch & Load” can be used indoors or outdoors, but we opted for outdoors, where we would have much more space...

THE BEST OF 2012 FROM TOYS BULLETIN

This task has not gotten any easier since we published our “Best of 2011” 12 months ago.  We see so many quality and exciting new products during the year, making it especially difficult to single out just a few standouts.  Plus, as mentioned last year, we cannot possibly test and review every toy and game released by every manufacturer in the past 12 months, so there is no doubt that we may have missed some good ones.

Here are the guidelines we follow in making our selections.  “The Best of 2012” is based solely on the toys and games that we have reviewed on our website from November 2011 through October 2012.  We have purposely excluded some older items, which may have been reviewed during that period, because that toy or game has been around for a number of years.  However, in some circumstances, we have also included an item that was new to us at Toys Bulletin, even though it may have been available for purchase prior to November 2011.

z200 Shotgun – A Beginner Paint Ball Experience

Wow!……..we do not start many reviews with that exclamation, but in this case the comment is justified. JT Splatmaster, a brand of Kee Action Sports, LLC, out of Sewell, NJ has created a wildly fun shooting experience.

Let us begin by reminding our readers that this product is intended for ages 9 years old and up and must be used with protective goggles or even full face and ear protection, depending on the situation.

The “z200 Shotgun” is made of high quality plastic, measuring 21” long, and is powered only by spring pressure, rather that air or CO2, as in a paint gun...
