Blunders – A Fun Way to Teach Children Manners

How many times have you heard someone whisper, “That kid needs to be taught some manners. Well, “Patch Products” and Aimee Symington have come up with a solution, and it is the game of “Blunders.” The game contents include 300 questions on 150 cards, 9 table-setting cards, 4 player pawns, 2 dice and a game board.  “Blunders” is intended for 2-4 players ages 5 years old and up.

The game revolves around the “Blunder” family children, which includes Billy, Becky, and the twins Brenda and Bobby.  Unfortunately the “Blunder” children are known to have terrible manners.  Players choose one of the player pawns, deciding which of the four “Blunder” children they wish to be, and place their pawn at the start position on the game board.  The board represents a winding path of different colored squares around the city...

This task has not gotten any easier since we published our “Best of 2011” 12 months ago.  We see so many quality and exciting new products during the year, making it especially difficult to single out just a few standouts.  Plus, as mentioned last year, we cannot possibly test and review every toy and game released by every manufacturer in the past 12 months, so there is no doubt that we may have missed some good ones.

Here are the guidelines we follow in making our selections.  “The Best of 2012” is based solely on the toys and games that we have reviewed on our website from November 2011 through October 2012.  We have purposely excluded some older items, which may have been reviewed during that period, because that toy or game has been around for a number of years.  However, in some circumstances, we have also included an item that was new to us at Toys Bulletin, even though it may have been available for purchase prior to November 2011.

And most importantly, we kept with our mission statement of providing a list of the “Best Toys and Games You’ve Never Heard Of.”

“Educational Insights” has done it again, and created a fun educational experience, this time taking rock music and combining it with the world of math. The result is a game called “Rockin’ Math.”

The game packaging immediately catches your eye, as the box is in the shape of a guitar, and further examination reveals that the inside of the game box serves as a colorful game board.  The game can be played by 2-4 players and is intended for 3rd and 4th graders (8 years old and up).  Players first choose a playing piece, each patterned after a different musical instrument, and become part of a rock band.  Everyone starts the game by playing their music in a garage...
